What are the components of industrial machine vision system?

With the development of industrial automation, the application of industrial machine vision system will also be more and more extensive. In addition, the rapid development of digital image sensors, CMOS and CCD cameras, DSP, FPGA, ARM and other embedded technologies, image processing and pattern recognition technologies will also bring a huge boost to the development of machine vision inspection. Here is a brief introduction of the main components of industrial machine vision system: 1. Camera and optical components This category usually contains one or more cameras and lenses (optical components) for photographing the detected object. According to the application, the camera can be based on the following standards: black and white, composite color (Y/C), RGB color, non-standard black and white (variable scan), step scan or line scan. 2. Lights The light of industrial machine vision system is used to illuminate components, so as to capture better images from the camera. The light system can be in different shapes, sizes and brightness. The general light forms are high-frequency fluorescent lamps, LED, incandescent lamps and quartz halide optical fibers. 3. Component sensor It usually appears in the form of grating or sensor. When the sensor senses that the component is close, it will give a trigger signal. When the component is in the correct position, the sensor will tell the machine vision system to collect the image. 4. Image acquisition card Also known as video capture card, this part is usually a card inserted on the PC. The function of this capture card is to connect the camera with the PC. It obtains data (analog signal or digital signal) from the camera and then converts it into information that the PC can process. Industrial machine vision system can also provide signals to control camera parameters (such as trigger, exposure time, shutter speed, etc.). There are many types of image capture cards, Support different types of cameras and different computer buses.

Is there a difference between machine vision systems and machine vision sensors?

Machine vision sensors are designed to be easy to install and deploy so that factory personnel can usually complete setup and configuration without a lot of outside help. If imaging work only needs to be done/not simple judgment, the company may need vision sensors, while machine vision systems require more expertise and a lot of time and money to complete configuration, installation and training. Often, companies rely on third-party integrators with extensive expertise in visual systems. What's the difference? Let's take a look: 1. Visual sensors are responsible for performing simple checks, such as answering simple yes or no questions on the production line. 2. The vision system is responsible for complex tasks, such as helping robot arms weld parts in automated factories. 3. Machine vision sensors can collect light waves from camera lenses and convert optical data into pixels, which together with digital signal processors generate digital images. Software analyzes pixel patterns and displays key data about the subject. Many automated factory tasks require simple and straightforward vision sensor data: Present or absent - Determine if there are parts in the sensor field of view? If the sensor answers yes, the machine vision software allows the part to move to the correct position during production. Inspection - Determine if the part is damaged or defective? If the sensor detects a defect, the part will be removed from production. Optical Character recognition (OCR) - Does a part have a specific text or text? Answering this question can help an automated system categorize products by brand name or product description.

The role of machine vision systems in automation

In automated production, machine vision system detection is very important, because machine vision detection can replace manual detection, automatic detection, machine vision system detection in the entire automation industry occupy what position? In modern industrial automated production, it involves a variety of detection, measurement and parts identification applications, such as the size detection of auto parts and automatic assembly integrity detection, positioning of electronic assembly line components, beverage bottle cap printing quality detection, product packaging bar code and character recognition are the common characteristics of these applications, are continuous batch production, The quality of appearance is very high. Usually, this highly repetitive and intelligent work is completed by the naked eye. However, in some special cases, such as accurate and rapid measurement of small size, shape matching and color recognition, the naked eye cannot be stable at all, and other physical quantity sensors cannot be realized. With the intensification of industry competition, the company does not even allow 0.1% defects in product quality control. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure 100% inspection compliance rate (i.e. "zero defects") to ensure product continuity. Therefore, people began to consider using CCD camera to capture the image, and send it to the computer or special image processing module, and through digital processing, according to the pixel distribution, brightness, color and other information to determine the size, shape, color, etc., this method combines the speed and repeatability of computer processing with the naked eye vision of high intelligence and abstract ability. Thus forming the concept of machine vision detection technology. Machine vision system detection technology is a new testing technology based on computer vision research. Different from visual pattern recognition and visual understanding in computer vision research, visual detection technology focuses on the measurement of the geometric size and position of objects, such as the three-dimensional size of white objects, the rapid measurement of the three-dimensional shape of the mold, the coaxiality measurement and coplanar measurement of large workpieces. In addition, the detection system of machine vision technology can automatically detect the whole product, which is also very important for the control and guarantee of product quality. With the needs of market development of various industries, in order to better stand in the market, improve the competitiveness of enterprises, more and more enterprises are focusing on the introduction of high-tech, in the industrial automation progress today, machine vision technology is more and more widely used in the industry, more and more recognized and favored by users.

What are the advantages of visual systems over traditional machine vision?

Traditional machine vision has poor raw resolution, and it is also subject to video corruption, such as repeated A/D transitions, electromagnetic transmission interference, interlacing, and D1 image synthesis and deinterlacing. When it actually reaches the human eye, it's very fuzzy, however, in practice, the clarity is nowhere near the theoretical level. The visual system adopts digital signal transmission, which converts optical signal into digital signal, and then compresses the image through DSP. Then, the digital compressed video is output through the network. The ordinary vision machine has the ability of anti-electromagnetic interference and progressive scanning, and the image resolution has incomparable advantages. The vertical resolution of the traditional visual system in PAL system is 625 lines, 575 lines after fading, the maximum current limit is 540 lines, and the minimum resolution can reach more than 800 lines. From the above, the maximum resolution of the traditional visual machine can reach D1 or 4CIF, which is about (400,000 pixels), but the visual system has no such limit. It can be a million or tens of millions of pixels, two or more. The visual system uses line-by-line scanning, scanning each frame of the image with an electron beam, while the traditional visual system uses interline scanning, whose line scanning frequency is half of that of line-by-line scanning. Due to the working principle of interline scanning, there are many drawbacks in application, such as flicker between lines, uneven parallel or vertical edges, etc. Resulting in overall motion image definition reduction. Color in visual software may be more realistic than vision, and the brightness signal and chrominance signal in video signal occupy the same frequency band. When the video acquisition chip is used for comb filtering (bright color separation), it is difficult to separate the chroma and brightness signals completely, resulting in spots and color penetration of the image. Machine vision can eliminate this hidden danger, because the color is more realistic, the sense of hierarchy is stronger, the image saturation is better, machine vision needs to control line, video line, audio line and power line wiring and independent matching, wiring is very troublesome and complex, large workload, high cost of integrated wiring, there are many restrictions in engineering applications.

The working process of machine vision system

The concept of machine vision system has a long history, but it has not been really recognized by the public until recent years, with the development of the Internet, machine vision detection is a sunrise industry, through the combination of automation equipment, can create value for enterprises. Next, I will give you a detailed introduction to the working process of machine vision testing equipment: 1. First, the workpiece detector is used to detect whether the object is close to or moves to the center of the camera field of vision, and the image acquisition card sends a trigger pulse signal. 2. The image acquisition card sends startup pulse to the camera or lighting device according to the program and delay preset by the designer, but some cameras and lighting devices start when the system is initialized. 3. The camera stops the current scan and starts a new frame scan. Sometimes the camera needs to wait before the start pulse arrives and start the frame scan after the start pulse arrives. 4. If the exposure strategy is used, open the exposure structure before the camera starts a new frame scan. The exposure time is set by the program or hardware according to your actual needs. 5. If using an exposure strategy, use another start pulse to turn on the lighting, especially to match the start time to the camera exposure time. 6. After the camera is exposed, scan and output a frame of image. 7. If the output of the camera is analog signal, the image acquisition card will convert the signal received by the camera into A/D and digitize it; if the output is digital signal, the image acquisition card will be saved. 8. The image acquisition card sends the image signal to the buffer, processor or computer memory for image processing and display. 9. The processor or computer processes, analyzes and recognizes the image, obtains measurement results or logical control variables, and then processes according to these results to control other devices (such as mechanical equipment) to complete relevant actions and positions. Correcting motion errors, for example, correcting the position of a robotic arm.
